My Students

In my Calculus classroom, students are expected to grapple with difficult scenarios and complex problems. There is excitement when we talk about the Physics or Chemistry applications of Calculus. We are preparing for the AP Calculus exam in May, and I want to show them the world!

These students desire knowledge, they have the thirst, the passion.

Out of 2200 students at our school, only 100 are enrolled in Calculus. But, they want to enter the fields of engineering, mathematics, science, medicine, law, and many others. Our classes are larger than most, because we put as many students into three classes, but it hasn't slowed us down at all. With a few additional resources, we will be firing on all cylinders!

My Project

My students need to be able to work out problems in small groups and on their own. But, sometimes, working on paper is boring, and less dynamic. Since Calculus is the study of change, we need calculator technology to add to the flow of class, allowing students to move about and solve problems, sharing with each other in a more meaningful way. There are many device models available, and these calculators are an integral part of solving complex Calculus problems. Graphing calculators are required for use on portions of the AP exam, and we need to practice in class so we can be successful on the test. Thank you for considering our class!
