My Students

I teach approximately 200 high school students from diverse backgrounds. The students in my school are exceptionally hard-working and dedicated to learning. The school performs above the national average on standardized tests.

Students exhibit appreciation for all opportunities provided to them through both the visual arts program and the school community as a whole.

They are responsible, respectful, and collaborative in their interactions with peers and school staff.

My Project

The visual art standards for high school require that students learn how to professionally display various types of artwork. The primary method for displaying 2D work requires a proper mat and frame to be used for hanging work. We do not currently have a mat cutter so it is impossible to teach students this valuable skill.

A mat cutter would allow students to learn to properly display their work while also facilitating cross-curricular lessons that incorporate precise measurement.

Framing student work takes their achievements to the next level and encourages them to take pride in what they have created. They would greatly appreciate the new addition to our classroom.
