Help me give my students a Cricut Maker, tools and carrying case to create one of a kind projects, through the use of technology, that they will be proud of.
Our school is a Title I urban elementary school located in Brockton, Massachusetts and serves about 1000 students from K-5th Grade. One hundred percent of our students receive free breakfast and lunch. Many of our students are second language learners and come from very diverse backgrounds. The students in my classroom are in the Unidos Dual Language Program. The students spend half their day learning academics in Portuguese and the other half of their day in English.
To measure learning when English is not your first language, students need to be able to express their ideas in many different ways other than in writing.
We need to look at how we can raise the bar for all students to achieve. As a teacher, I teach students to believe in themselves, to set goals and achieve those goals. All students will rise to the challenge if given the opportunity. Now is the time to give these students the opportunities.
My Project
My students will use the Cricut Maker cutting machine to create new and exciting projects that can't be done without this piece of technology. With the Cricut, students will be able to create projects relevant to what we are studying in class. It can be used in all subject areas because the possibilities are endless. My students will gain confidence as the complete the projects because the Cricut will allow them to create exactly what they have designed. My students have great ideas and are extremely creative but their fine motor skills prevent them from creating what they envision in their minds. The students will design their project on the computer in Design Space and watch it come to life as the Cricut cuts it out for them.
These donated materials will greatly enhance the quality of work my students are able to produce.
Please help my students continue to be inquisitive and creative learners. Allow them to explore and create projects that they never thought they were capable of making.
