I teach General Music to Kindergarten and first grade students. I am constantly finding ways to integrate the arts into academics, particularly reading and math skills. Teaching music and the arts is my true passion and it brings me joy to come to work everyday!

Our students are high-need with a large percentage of special education, free and reduced lunch students and minorities. Many of the parents in our school district do not have a high school diploma. Our rural community is in an economically depressed area with high unemployment. Enrichment through Donor's Choose would vastly enrich and improve each student's opportunities.

I need a brightly colored Musical Chairs rug for the music room. This is the perfect carpet to define an area for singing, sharing, performing and storytelling. Each child can choose a chair in a favorite color. Sometimes, on rainy days, the music room is used for inside recess. With this rug the children can play a lively game of 'musical chairs' instead of watching cartoons in front of a television. I also need a folding music stand for holding music when I perform for the children or when we have special guest performers.

With the help of Donors Choose, my students will enjoy music even more than they do now! Donors Choose can help my students 'cut a rug' in the music room! Their needs are great, but with your help, the opportunities can be even greater!
