Students at our school deserve the best! About 400 students enter our school each day, not only to be educated in math, reading, and science, but to be in a safe place where they can learn habits of mind, such as empathy, well-being, and humanity. Our job as teachers at this school is to provide a comfortable setting where students are given choice and allowed to be themselves and find their passions. These students come from a great community that is always supporting of their needs. This strong environment allows our students to grow and thrive, each learning and progressing at their own pace, focusing on their own talents and interests. The 4th and 5th graders that are in this school are so deserving of some new seating options in their classroom!
As our district makes a shift into Mass Customized Learning, we are realizing that curriculum should not be the only thing that is individualized.
Mass Customized Learning personalizes every aspect of a student's school experience: what material they learn, the pace they learn, how they are assessed on their knowledge and skills, and who they learn with. So shouldn't their classrooms be personalized as well?

Our district is currently shifting into a Mass Customized Learning Model, where each student's learning is individualized at a personalized pace to best meet their needs.
If academic curriculum can be customized, shouldn't our classrooms be, too?
We are asking for Runtz ball chairs as flexible seating that will help a total of 40 students find their comfort zone in the classroom. These students are not only coming to school to learn academic subjects, but to learn how to be well rounded individuals and find out their strengths and passions. Part of finding their individuality will be finding out how they learn best in each environment they enter.
By allowing students to choose an alternative seat, we are allowing them to be flexible, make decisions based on their needs, and customize their learning to keep them engaged and moving. These seats will certainly keep students active through all aspects of their learning!
