Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The students at our school are talented and amazing. Our school is a Title 1 school, and some of our students are of very low socioeconomic backgrounds. Our students come from diverse cultures and backgrounds. It is so important that each and every student at our school feels welcome and accepted despite their differences. As a teacher, it is my goal to make each and every student feel safe and comfortable to learn and succeed, both inside the classroom and out.
First grade is a critical year for students.
Not only do they learn to read, but they also continue to build social skills that they will carry with them throughout their lives. Students must be given motivating opportunities to continue to build these skills. It is my goal to incorporate a positive classroom learning environment with the proper educational resources.
My Project
First grade is a critical year for students, especially in the area of reading. Reading is a skill that students will apply on a daily basis both inside the classroom and out.
It is crucial that students are provided with reading materials that spark their interest and curiosity.
Research shows that students who lack interest in reading at a young age, tend to fall behind their peers in the higher grades. It is my goal to create a classroom library that truly meets the needs of each and every student in my first grade classroom. Each student is unique in their ability level, background, and interests. As an educator, I am eager and excited to help instill a love for reading and learning!
