My students need t-shirts in order to draw out their own custom designs in Adobe illustrator & to print & create their own t-shirts using our t-shirt printing press.
The students at our school are some of the most interesting and talented individuals I have ever met during my teaching career. We are a special kind of school. It is a CTE school which focuses on trade education. We have amazing programs including Graphic design which is my class. My students come from many schools with many talents including, drawing , writing, designing and public speaking.
My students in Graphic Design focus on becoming real world Graphic Designers.
They create design portfolios, enter city and state competitions and many of them even get design internships in the field. My students and their talents have won them third place in City High School directory competition, first place in the skills city banner competition and second place in the state banner competition. My students have also won full scholarships to schools like the SVA and Pratt.
Although we are a small and cozy school my students show passion and dedication to their work. They love what they do and give 100% .
My Project
My Graphic Design class focuses on real world experiences and what better experience than to create your own custom design t-shirt. We recently received a t-shirt press however the students need drawing tablets and t-shirts to print on!
This project will focus on the process of creating and designing a t-shirt from beginning to end!
Students will create their own custom illustrations in Adobe Illustrator using drawing tablets. Students will then use the vector art they have created to turn their art into a mirrored image in RGB mode. Next students will print out their designs on custom printing sheets and finally they will place them on our heating press to create their own t-shirts!
