My class is full of energetic 3rd graders; they work hard every day. When they walk though the door each morning I can tell they're happy to be in school. What I really want is for them to walk through the door and think, "Wow, I love school, and I love being in this space!" I want put together a classroom that looks amazing and allows students to have more choices about where they work.
Since students spend most of their waking hours in school I want our classroom to look, and feel, like it was designed with them in mind.
I am trying to create a classroom with flexible seating that makes the room feel and look more energizing, and less institutional. When students are able to make choices about where they sit they have a better attitude about school.
Our classroom has a cement floor which is cold and uncomfortable. Flex-Space Comfy Floor Seating will allow students to sit comfortably as they work on the floor in small groups. Flex-Space Wobble Cushions will be perfect for those students who need to wobble a bit, and have chairs that are a little too low for the table. Wobble Stools will give students the opportunity to wiggle while they work.
Flexible seating is exactly what my students need as many of them are in constant motion; sitting on a hard, fixed position chair, doesn't allow them to sit comfortably.
When I borrowed Wobble Chairs from a neighboring class I noticed how my students stayed in their own work space, and stayed on task. I plan on using the Wobble chairs for reading groups, and on a rotating schedule so everyone will be able enjoy them.
With your help I can give my students the flexible seating which will better accommodates all of our seating needs.
