My Students

I work in an inclusive preschool program that serves typically developing children as well as children with special needs. It is a multi-aged classroom with children ranging from 3-5 years old. Almost half of the children I work with have a diagnosed disability and are served on an Individual Education Plans, many are diagnosed with autism.

My goal in teaching is that all children have their needs met, and anyone could walk into my classroom and not recognize the children with special needs.

My Project

In my classroom, I have a variety of ages (3, 4, and 5 years old) and a variety of needs. There are many students with autism, a student with down syndrome, and a student with a traumatic brain injury. It is important to support their learning in every area of the classroom. Carpet time can be difficult for some of our students.

Having the flexible seating during carpet time, will help increase focus of all the students and increase their learning.

I have seen this happen in many other rooms and want to give my students the same opportunities. With this donation, my students will be able to maximize their full potential.
