When you picture your classroom, is it tidy, neat, and well-decorated? So is mine! My students, no matter their personal circumstances or my school's budget, enjoy a well-decorated, colorful, and informative classroom environment. I currently construction paper and bulletin board border taped to our windows but it constantly falls off and then needs replaced. We need new window coverings to create a positive learning space!
These incredible students are quirky, loving, independent, energetic middle-schoolers who want their educational experience to expand their knowledge and push their boundaries.
This, however, is hard to do without basic classroom supplies. Unfortunately, at this time, there are no funds available from my school to curtains and window coverings for my classroom. My students want so very strongly to learn, and I'm trying my best to provide them with the best, cleanest, and most well-decorated learning environment so they get the best out of their school year! They deserve the best, and I intend to give them the best.
My Project
My classroom has no outside windows, but we do have two walls of windows from floor to ceiling. How is that, you must wonder?! How are there windows, but none look outside? My classroom is situated on the second floor of the library, so the library has the outside windows. What my classroom DOES have are distractions! All of the windows look down into the library where classes are being run and sometimes movies and presentations are going on. Through these windows we see every activity that goes on in the library. The attention spans of my middle-schoolers aren't great! The disturbances in the library do cause some disruption to in-class activities. Right now there is some ugly brown construction paper covering the windows. I'd love to put some bright, fun new curtains on these windows, so we can shut them when we are distracted.
Decorations and curtain rods for my classroom will help brighten the space my students spend many hours a week in for both class and after-school tutoring.
Not only will the spaces be well-decorated, but we won't face the distractions of the library outside, which will help everyone be more focused and learn more. Thank you so much for considering a donation to my classroom! We are so grateful!
