This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are creative, inspiring, and need some new materials to work with to continue their learning. They are primarily Hispanic and come from a very low income area. Most of my students started speaking Spanish when they were younger and didn't start learning English until they started Kindergarten.

This makes learning a challenge at times.

Our school is a Title I school that has over 90% of our students receiving free lunch. The families at our school are required to volunteer at least 20 hours a year to help support the school.

My Project

My students have been asking me all year to teach them how to write in cursive. So I am breaking down and asking for help to get them the practice books that they need in order to learn how to write in cursive. I would like to get these books to add to my current writing curriculum so that the students would have the books they need to practice writing in cursive.

Cursive writing still exists today and is something that every student needs to learn.

They need to be able to sign their name, read information in cursive, and read books that are written in cursive. I want to be able to teach them and these books would help.
