My students are all in our program called Communication Behavior classrooms. My students all display different forms of communication, behavior, sensory, and social needs, typically with a diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder.
The strengths and challenges are unique to every student and my goal is to provide them with the most appropriate resources and best education that I can!
We are a classroom of about 12 students with so many great personalities. Every one of my students and staff are each a perfect piece to the puzzle!
My Project
My classroom needs curriculum from teachers pay teachers for the start of next school year, from The Autism Helper and Little Miss Kim's Class. My students need the new Reading Comprehension leveled curriculum, Circle Time Curriculum for the year, and the ABLLS-R Assessment kit. These resources will help creating goals, assessments, and instruction for each of their IEP's.
ABLLS stands for the assessment of basic language and learning skills.
This resource is an assessment, curriculum guide, and tracking program for children with language delays. It is commonly used with children with autism and cognitive disabilities. This tool gives such valuable knowledge of what skill sets each student is missing. In doing so, it gives great insight into what to include in their IEP goals and academic program goals.
The Autism Helper Reading Comprehension curriculum provides 4 versions of a year long reading comprehension curriculum that focuses on applying phonics and sight word identification skills and concepts decoding and understanding increasingly difficult text passages. The curriculum is structured, visually based, breaks down larger skills into manageable steps, embeds assessments, and utilizes data based decision making.
The Circle Time/Morning Meeting Curriculum pack will provide fun and engaging activities for the entire school year that is differentiated and adapted for the needs of my students in special education.
The Teacher Misery books have come highly recommended to me by other teachers. I have not had the chance to purchase them myself but I think it is always so valuable to read books like this to feed my teacher brain!
