Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach at a dual language school that promotes English and Spanish learning. I am the special education teacher for 7/8 grade. Seventy percent of the students are bilingual and mostly Hispanic. While my students face many socioeconomic, emotional, and behavioral challenges they work hard to overcome the challenges every day.
Special education students are often overlooked in regular classrooms.
I want to make sure that my students get the best education possible. Anything you can give to help will go a long way and make a real difference in my students' lives.
My Project
Reading is essential to increase understanding of the world around us. The TIME for Kids current events subscription will provide my students with new materials that will engage them in exploration of topics that are relevant to the world around them.
This Time for Kids subscription will allow my students to read about the world at their reading level.
The materials will be used to practice reading comprehension strategies, summarizing, and vocabulary development. The materials that we currently uses are not that stimulating. We will also set up reading logs that will require students to read at home and with siblings or guardians.
I would greatly appreciate the help with ordering these materials.
