This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

Because my school is in a high poverty area, two different limitations exist. First, the reading materials I have available in my classroom are generally worn and outdated. Secondly, many of my students have little interesting reading material available at home.

My students attend a neighborhood public school in a high poverty area of Florida.

While many of my students struggle every day with basic needs, they persevere because they know the value of education. Because high stakes testing has narrowed our curriculum, my students don't get the exposure to social studies and current events that they deserve. By supplying this subscription to Time For Kids, you will enable them to explore events and ideas that been unavailable to them.

My Project

I truly believe that having a class subscription to Time For Kids would help my students. The weekly issues would be extremely useful for classroom instruction. Also, when we are finished working with them in the class, students can take them home to read with their families.

Your support will provide my students with exposure to ideas they might not otherwise experience.

Time For Kids is an excellent source for nonfiction reading material on their grade level. This resource will help expand their world view, improve reading levels, and generate interest in a wide variety of subjects. Your donation can truly make a difference for my students.
