A typical day in our 4th-grade room starts with smiles at the door. There is a sense of joy that makes our classroom special, the students love to learn! They love to set their own goals and surprise themselves when they see their own potential. I love observing this!
A large percentage of our students fall below the poverty line, yet still come to school every day with a positive outlook and they are eager to learn.
I am particularly proud to be educating 4th graders in my classroom as they build a strong knowledge-base and habits to prepare themselves for middle school. The thing I love most about my school is how we integrate so many different methods of teaching.
My students love to read! They especially all love to read and discuss the same piece of text.
In addition, most of my students have very limited reading resources at home.
Reading comprehension is so imperative to a student's success in school and in their future. A class set of Scholastic News will allow us to stay current on world events in our classroom in a student-friendly manner. It will also help instill a love of reading for my students. It helps for each student to have their own copy so they can take it home to read and complete activities!
