The students in this class come from very diverse homes. We have over 12 different languages, and our class and school population are very diverse. In addition to diversity, many of the kids in this class come from extreme poverty. But, don't let that fool you. These kids are so eager to learn and value their education just as much as any other students. These kids are amazing and have a constant thirst for knowledge. The students who will benefit from this project are five and six years old boys and girls who are excited to start their educational journey.
Having access to current nonfiction text will surely benefit this group of Kindergarten students. Each week, each student will get their own colorful copy of this Scholastic magazine. The magazine has great Science, Social Studies, Math and Literature activities. These high-interest topics will inspire these students to become lifetime learner and eager readers.
Each week we will use these lessons and magazines to enrich our reading lessons.
Students will get to keep these in their home libraries and share them with their families. These magazines can be used in a plethora of ways, whole group, small group, and at home are just a few.
