This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I am lucky enough to teach a fantastic first-grade class. I am currently at a Title I school and have a group of wonderful children who deserve the best education. Our current classroom does not have enough books to fill our classroom library. Did you know "The single factor most associated with reading achievement- more than socioeconomic status or any instructional approach - is independent reading?" You can help make this happen by donations books and library supplies to our class library.
My Project
My sweet first graders need a cozy classroom library where they can curl up with a good book! Help me create an organized and well stocked classroom library.
This will be where my students spend the most time reading books, as many do not have books at home or take library trips.
Having an organized leveled book cart will allow students to find books on their level easily. Book bags will be used to send several books home with students every night! The books I have selected are various level text so that each child can chose from multiple books on their level. Help me not only fill the classroom but homes with books!
