My students need these stacking chairs as comfortable places for independent reading. These chairs would be a great addition to encourage older students to practice independent reading while making our library media center future ready.

My Students

The 700 students at my school are a joy to work with! They are upbeat, cheerful and demonstrate good character. When they visit the media center, we learn in fun and engaging ways. I believe that hands-on exploration is a tool that each of my students benefits from.

Most importantly, all of our students demonstrate a desire to take risks in learning and demonstrate a growth mindset.

They are active learners who are willing to try new things. Due to this, I feel that they are going to be ready for anything the future holds in store!

My Project

Providing these seats to intermediate students will encourage their independent reading. As they have space available for practicing their reading, both their reading and language arts skills will increase. Currently, our library media center has rocking chairs for primary students. My goal is to increase our flexible seating to encourage intermediate students to feel comfortable to practice their reading.

Providing these chairs to intermediate students will engage them in reading and help them feel connected in the library media center.

By providing them with furniture for their age group, they will become more engaged in their own learning and feel as if the library media center also belongs to them.
