As a teacher still in my first few years of teaching, I have a very small library. My students struggle to find books they have not read yet or are of interest. They need books that are more suited to their interests to capture their imagination and keep them interested in reading.
My students live in a rural area of Vermont with a high poverty level.
The students spend a fair amount of their spare time outside participating in team or winter sports. They are curious students whose imagination can be captured by reading when they find the right book. I would like to be able to help them find that book that they cannot put down.
I want to see my students find books that will capture their interest and imagination. With more books to choose from in a variety of genres, I hope to have the tools to assist students in finding a book that they do not want to put down. These books will help students practice their literary skills and build upon those they already have.
I am working hard to create lifelong readers and do not have enough necessary supplies to do so.
My current classroom library is quite small and students are very quickly running out of material to read.
