My students need fun and engaging math manipulatives to learn number sense, measuring, counting, and one-to-one correspondence. I am requesting a play cash register, a Counting Cookies set, Jumbo Unifix cubes, and many other hands-on items.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our diverse preschool classroom is located in a low-income school district. Our resources are limited, but I work to create new and fun ways to engage my students in meaningful experiences.
My three and four year-old students are curious and full of energy.
They love to move and experience their world with all of their senses! They come to school every day with an admirable sense of wonder and inquisitiveness that is truly contagious. I work to ensure that my classroom is a safe space where each of my students can learn and be proud of their value and importance in and outside the classroom.
My Project
The materials I have requested have been carefully picked out based on my students' interests. My students are curious and inventive. They love to create stories as they build and explore materials in the classroom. I already know that they will love pretending they are running a store with as they count out money with the Cash Register or baking cookies with the Counting Cookies game. These tiny architects will enjoy building with the Jumbo Unifix Cubes and the Centimeter cubes.
These fun and exciting materials will engage my students while they learn to measure, count, sort, and build!
Math education in pre-k looks a lot like free-play! But when this guided exploration is set up in a meaningful way and with the right materials, children are able to use their hands and minds to solve problems, build, and create as they play. Children will learn number sense, counting, one-to-one correspondence, and even measuring techniques with these engaging materials!
