I am so fortunate to have the privilege of spending my days with a class of vivacious kindergarten students on a year-long journey full of fun, learning, and lots of growth!
My kindergartners are dynamic; their zest for learning and life motivates me to provide the most engaging educational experiences possible for them during each and every school day!
These bright and busy boys and girls each come to our classroom with different backgrounds and will access a multitude of tools daily to support them in being the strongest and most successful learners they can be!
My Project
In our kindergarten classroom, we use books to support our learning of important information each and every day. My little learners love to visit our classroom library and explore the pages of self-selected books. Non-fiction books with science related topics about animals, plants and nature have consistently been amongst the most sought after by my students. As we grow as builders during our construction play centers, my students and I have also been seeking out titles from our classroom library about engineering. As a result, books with these themes are ones that I am always looking to add to our library for the enjoyment of my blossoming readers.
With this project, I strive to add engaging informational texts about science and engineering to our classroom library.
We study topics within each of these areas every year as a part of multidisciplinary thematic units during which time my kindergarten students take on the roles of scientists and engineers who plant and care for seeds and build replicas of houses, cars and schools using blocks and other tools. Not only will the requested books support our upcoming units and the development of crucial early literacy skills in a high-interest way, they will also nurture the creativity and curiosity in each of my students. As my kindergarteners read and learn more about the science topics in these books, they will have the opportunity to envision ways that they can be creators of new inventions and caretakers of other living things around them.
Thank you for considering a donation to our classroom and an investment in our learning!
