Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I have a very active class with 9 girls and 16 boys! They are curious and eager to learn! A large percentage of my class are English Language Learners. Most of my students live near the school. They come from a variety of socioeconomic statuses, however, most are lower income.
More than 25% are from homeless families.
Some of my students live with their parents and grandparents. They come from hard working families that care about their children. Our school is a smaller school. We have limited resources available to our students.
First grade is an important foundation for reading and mathematics and my students are currently below average. I want to create an environment where students know they are important. Students should be able to learn in a happy, healthy, safe environment where they feel warmth.
Through this project, you will be opening doors to a fun, new and challenging learning environment while also providing a conducive work space for these students and for students in years to come!
My Project
My students are curious! I want to foster a classroom where curiosity is cool! My student will sour with STEM toys that give them a FAT brain! They will be able to learn through trial and error. Mistakes are part of learning and my students will learn not to be afraid of mistakes, but to use them to grow and learn more about the world around them.
The children will be excited to use STEM toys like Dot and Dash as they learn coding!
They will learn to work together as they share knowledge and experiences.
The stools are so important for my classroom right now. We currently have chairs that are too big for my students. The stools will be "JUST RIGHT" and the students will be able to easily move them to different tables in the room as they work on projects together.
Providing these items will foster my curious students and provide a basic seating need!
