This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Culture Matters! Last year we funded a Karaoke speaker for our students to let off steam and sing every Friday at Karaoke Club. It was a success. We ended up using the speaker just as much for cultural presentations. This year we want to improve and make it more effective for our dozens of student unions!

Help give our cultural student clubs a tripod, plug-in microphones, extension cords, and AV adapters and tripods so that they can use our karaoke speaker for presentations and cultural events!

We used this speaker in classrooms and it was more than suitable! So many presented: Afghan student groups, Latino student unions, Poetry clubs, etc. But recently, we brought the speaker to a large recreation center gym for Yalda night. The speaker was loud enough but the wireless mics were not made for such a long presentation. We also struggled with the positioning and logistics of all the wires and devices.

We need wired mics! Wired microphones will not lose their power. We need an extension cord! An extension cord will allow us to keep the system plugged in. We need a tripod! A tripod will elevate the speaker so everyone can hear it.

We also need adapters! A problem we encountered was switching from our computers to our iPhones as sources of audio and video. The two adapters will make this easier so that when the students present their Google slide shows or CapCut videos, we can utilize the speakers instead of the projector sound. A mini-tripod will allow us to place the phone safely on the podium.

We hope to coordinate with all of the cultural groups this year! These items will make us unstoppable!
