My Students

The students I work with are friendly, curious and eager to learn. I am fortunate to work in a diverse community with many students who are new to this country. Being the Literacy Instructional coach allows me to work with many students of all ages who are learning to read.

Learning about our differences and appreciating other cultures is an important part of our community.

Many of our families do not have access to books so it is important for me to have a room full of books to share with students.

My Project

I am very fortunate to work in a school with a very diverse population with many students from all over the world. I work with many students at lower emergent reading levels and need more books to suit their needs. A lot of my leveled books are outdated and only feature white characters.

I need leveled books that match the diversity of the students I serve.

I need books that feature characters of color and a variety of topics. These books need to be at a level my students can read. Having these books will allow my lowest of readers to be engaged and excited about the books in my room!
