My Students

My students are without a doubt some of the hardest working, kind and curious 7th and 8th graders in the country. Their passion for academic and personal success is contagious.

In a rural Northeast Wisconsin village where there is a strong sense of community PRIDE, these students live by a motto of Personal Responsibility In Daily Effort.

Not only can our students tell you what PRIDE is an acronym for, they define it in their daily actions. They work hard to persevere through their challenges and put forth their best effort in all they do.

My Project

In the 2019-2020 school year our middle school is implementing an enrichment block. This time will be focused on giving students an opportunity to receive additional math and literacy instruction as well as give them time to explore STEM, Art, IT, Music, Civics and Social Emotional topics.

By reading Save Me A Seat, my students will gain awareness of the Indian culture and that no matter how different people seem we are often more alike than we realize.

It is my hope to provide each one of my students with a copy of the book during our 6 weeks together. We will read it in a book club like format, have discussions about it and engage in activities related to what we have read. My learning objective is for all students to gain some cultural awareness and to value acceptance as well as enhance their literacy skills.
