Our classroom is known as a place of acceptance.
As their reading and writing teacher, I strive to teach my students skills that they will use for life. I want my students to be able to effectively express themselves through writing, and develop a deep love for reading. My fourth graders are spunky and sassy. They are street smart and aware of the world around them. A lot of my students deal with significant poverty and extremely tough situations at home. I want to give them the very best education. They are worth it! About seventy percent of our campus is free and reduced lunch. We have a handful of ESL students, and we are a Title 1 campus.
My Project
Turning your back to the class as you write on the board has never been a great way to capture and maintain student attention. A document camera not only allows you to face students, it allows you to adapt the lesson to what they need at the time. My students love to learn, and this technology will enable me to teach in a more engaging way. They have varied learning styles that a document camera will help to address and allow all types of learners to participate. Having a document camera in class will enrich my students' learning experiences and open up new opportunities for technology use in, and out of, the classroom. Writer's Workshop will take will take on a new dimension as their writing is viewed and peer reviewed through the document camera's footage. These are tools that will help these students, and those for years to come.
A document camera would provide my students with the high quality educational opportunity that they deserve!
