My classroom is a happy and busy group of kindergarteners. Though they are only between the ages of five and six, these students have high aspirations for their futures. They are motivated, completely capable, and love learning.
They like to move, read, play, and love lots of positive attention.
From the moment they walk in the door of my classroom, I focus on their potential and growth while they are with me. By doing this in a creative and positive way, I am hoping to inspire even our earliest learners to continue to question the world around them and become empowered in their own voice to make a difference in the community.
In the kindergarten classroom, we are constantly working to foster the 4 Cs: Communication, Collaboration, Critical Thinking, and Creativity. One of my favorite parts of my job is building my students' knowledge of the world and their part in it through hands-on STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art & Math) activities!
I want my students' time at school to be special and filled with exciting and challenging STEAM activities that both challenge and celebrate them.
Using inclusive and diverse books, I want to encourage my students to feel like they can be whatever they want to be. The bilingual books will make all students feel welcome. We can use these books as a foundation to later use the STEAM materials in art lessons, math centers, and science experiments. Students will have the opportunity to explore and become innovators. Lessons can come to life, and students will be able to collaborate to learn through play and discovery.
