I do all I can to teach through engagement and to inspire a love for learning with my students. Although many of our students face challenges inside and outside of the school environment, this does not hinder their eagerness to learn. They inspire me each day with their enthusiasm, and we create a classroom that serves as a safe space where they can take intellectual risks and develop deeper learning.
I am deeply passionate about mathematics, and my students have said that I am the first teacher to make them love math!
My Project
From year to year, one of the most difficult mathematical topics for my 4th graders to tackle is fractions. I continue to attend professional development trainings, read professional books, and find new methods in the hopes that I can be the best that I can be in providing support for students as they pursue understanding in this difficult topic. In my most recent Mathematical course, "Number Sense 201", the Cognitively Guided Instruction has continually been mentioned.
