Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are a great group of individuals who deserve the best education I can possibly give them. They are creative, thoughtful, hard workers and a great group of learners. I want to do all that I can to provide them everything they need to learn.
These students are our future!
I don't know if there is a future president, an engineer that will make great improvements or a doctor that will find cures to change the world in our class. Everyone provides something special to our community of learners and they deserve to learn in a way that suits them best.
My Project
We recently finished a unit on how technology can change lives. I decided to pull out the two Dash and Dot robots that I had in class and the students are CRAZY for them!! I would love to give them the opportunity to learn how to code and possibly put them on a trajectory for a career in computer science.
Students learn best when they have hands-on experiences!
The Cue robot will help to add to Dash and Dot robots that we currently have. The Cue robot will allow students to take their knowledge further. Once they get the hang of block coding this will allow them to experience more advanced coding. I want to be able to provide a challenge to all students in my class and this is the next level of Dash and Dot.
When I saw that there was an accessory kit that will allow the robots to draw and make music I thought it was a perfect start to introduce coding to my first graders. How fun would it be to go home and tell your grown ups that you made a robot draw a picture or make music that day. These are the perfect tools to get our future generation prepared for jobs of the future!
