My Students

Our classroom is filled with a variety of special needs preschoolers that are unique and very diverse. We have children with sensory issues and autism. Some of the students are medically fragile and others have behavioral challenges. There are little ones with cerebral palsy and they can have varying levels of needs. Some children walk with braces while others are in wheelchairs and need help moving every part of their body. Some of our little ones have trachs and mickey buttons.

We adore every one of our children and want to give them the richest school experience possible!

My Project

Swings help regulate, calm and organize young children's thoughts. Our children do not have the opportunity to swing as most able bodied children do. We feel our three to six year olds would benefit from having a cuddle swing to help them during the day. It would allow them to have a safe piece of equipment in which to swing and would provide a calming/self-regulating motion for students.

When we are trying to meet the needs of such diverse students at the same time, the swing would provide another valuable tool for us to help enrich the students' time in the classroom.
