Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My grades four through six students have playful and inquisitive minds. They have special needs including learning difficulties, autism, emotional and behavioral difficulties, attention deficit disorder and other-health impairments. Of course, they are passionate about what they do.
My students love to learn and be challenged.
Moreover, my students enjoy reading, solving real-life math problems and hands-on activities.
According to Brene Brown, "We are born makers! We move what we're learning from our heads through our hearts to our hands!"
My Project
My students has social, emotional, behavioral and sensory needs. Some of them are easily distracted and will need to have an effective avenue to manage their frustrations.
My students could benefit from having sensory blanket and vest to increase body awareness, focus and concentration and to improve balance and coordination.
This way, my students with special needs can strengthen their learning, be more engage and be involved in their education. This project could greatly impact my students with sensory and processing deficits. Having these sensory tools readily available for us, could dramatically reduce hyperactivity, emotional, behavioral and distraction. I have personally witnessed how these tools are very useful to support students with special needs.
