This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Our public learning center school is four years old, and is located in a poverty stricken area of Kansas City. It is a learning center that caters to over 800 prekindergarten and kindergarten students, with free breakfast and lunch. Dinner is also provided for students in our after-school program.
My prekinder students are curious and excited about learning about technology and various topics in our study units.
We read, write, count, draw, paint, create, build, sing, dance and respond to topics that we learn in school.
My Project
The Cubetto Playset makes coding easy to learn for young learners. The interactive board and directional pieces are used to move the friendly, wooden cube, named Cubetto on a special playboard. This activity can be used anywhere in the building, not just in the classroom!
Providing a coding toy for low-income prekinders prepares them for the future!
Introducing programming language and various opportunities with technology, will prepare my students for jobs of the future, many that we do not even know about at this present time.
My students will also create a class map of our own with the art materials, which promotes STEAM in our classroom. This is Technology and Art at its best!
