My students need cubbies! A place for backpacks and coats that's not just the backs of their chairs will bring some calm to our classroom!

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My rising third graders are amazing young people! They bring a huge diversity of reading, writing and math assets to the classroom. Many are emergent bilinguals. They are all creative and they have tons (I mean tons) of energy.
My students don't always have equitable access to the materials and experiences they need, compared to their peers in other schools.
We are a Title I elementary school in the Mission / Castro area that serves multiple vibrant and often-marginalized communities.
My Project
My students need sturdy, right-sized, reliable cubbies for their backpacks and coats.
We've tried everything (inexpensive cubbies, hooks, and more) but those solutions just haven't held up to daily use.
My students end up having to store everything on the back of their chairs, which is super un-fun. For example, the backpack weight often tips over the chair once the student stands up; there's little room to move among desks without knocking things down; coats get trampled and lunches get spilled out..... we need some real cubbies.
The Lakeshore cubbies are classroom-grade cubbies designed to hold up to heavy daily use. (That's why they are so expensive.) In addition, they come with a lifetime guarantee from Lakeshore. That means your donation will serve not just this year's students, but a decade or more of students to come.
Help us bring some calm into our cluttered classroom! Thank you!
