My students need math manipulatives like money and counters, and book storage such as labeled bins to distinguish various categories of literature.
This project expired on March 12, 2016.
Hooray! This project is fully funded
A typical day in my classroom is loud and busy! My students are busy bodies that need hands-on materials like math manipulatives. They learn best by "doing" just like theorist, John Dewey says. I would love to also provide them with labeled book bins that offer fiction and non-fiction texts.
Being a Title I school, my students are high poverty and low income.
Some don't know where their next meal is coming from or if they'll ever get a new pair of shoes. Learning is their support system and knowledge is power and I intend to give them all I can this year!
My students would love to have these manipulatives and book bins. Not only would it provide our classroom with simple organization but also brighten up the environment with fun and colorful learning materials. The variety that I can offer them will make a huge difference!
My goal for my students is that they will go to college and/or have a career.
As a first grade teacher, I know I can make a huge impact on their initial schooling experience to guide them in the direction of their future.
