I am one of five special education teachers at my school, so our budget is tight. Getting new materials for my classroom is very hard, which is why we are turning to you, DonorsChoose.org.
The students in my classroom are working on functional life skills, such skills include communication skills, turning taking skills, functional math, and functional reading skills.
My students receive the majority of their instruction in the special education classroom. Hands-on learning helps students retain what has been taught. They learn best with hands-on materials and when given multiple chances to practice the same skill over and over again with new or old material.
As our class grew this year, we are in need of more cubbies to help keep us organized. We use this cubbies for just about anything, from work centers to sensory bins to independent work. We are in need of a second one as our class size has doubled this school year. These cubbies allow students to continue use to maintain independence within the classroom. Students learn quickly which bins are theirs and which our their classmates. They have been very beneficial for our students in our room. The ultimate goal in our room is to make all students as independent as possible.
