Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our preschool students are low income with family backgrounds from Mexico, Puerto Rico and Guatemala. Many students are from single-parent homes, facing many challenges. Our classroom is their first hands-on experience away from home. We are located in an urban community where violence occurs almost always. Families, however, strive to have their children attend school ninety-six percent of the time.
Students at this school strive to learn and develop artistic fundamentals and demonstrate the need for physical activities to keep their busy bodies happy and healthy!
Our school serves Pre-K through eighth grade students, offering many after-school programs in sports and language arts.
My Project
The cubbie storage unit will make a huge difference in our students' learning by teaching them organizational skills. It will allow for them to save time when cleaning up used manipulatives.
The variety of games will teach academic skills necessary for Kindergarten readiness.
Preschoolers will enjoy to explore matching games along with recognition of colors and numbers too.
It would be essential for the classroom to be inviting for young learners to be able to make self selective choices using many manipulatives displayed in clear bins for their daily use.
