My Students

This is a public high school that trains students in dance at the pre-professional level. Many of my students do not have the funds to train outside of school, and they go above and beyond to help train younger students and participate in the dance community

This program prepares them to pursue their passion and apply for collegiate dance programs as well as to audition for professional companies.

Many of our graduates have been accepted into top university dance programs!

My Project

The National Board Certification process encourages teachers to reflect on their teaching practice to better support all students. My students are pre-professional artists, and evaluating my curriculum as career and technical education training, helps me to support them to become professional dancers and choreographers. Most of my students balance their high school classes, additional dance classes, and continue to volunteer to support dance and the arts in their communities.

I have completed half of my certification and have already learned so much about my students and how to connect with them more.

I look forward to completing my certification, and showing my students that you can always continue to reflect and grow!
