Ms. Crawford-Meyer from Miramar FL is requesting professional development through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
I need professional development to continue my growth as a computer science facilitator, as learning for the 21st century requires having a vast depth of knowledge in the emerging-growing field of computer science.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
STEM/STEAM program - My students are from an array of cultural, ethnic, religious and socio-economical background. We are a Title I school and introducing STEM/STEAM opportunities and career goals for these students. The emphasis is on robotics and coding, These students are learning to code in Vex C++, as well as Java and Swift. Currently, I have students actively participating in robotic and engineering competitions.
Continuing to build my professional education in the computer science field as a woman is crucial, therefore attending CSTA and further, my knowledge base becomes essential.
This is why I am seeking to attend this year's conference and learn as much as I can in a short time.
My project is for my personal and professional growth through continuing education. Attending (CSTA-2019) Computer Science Teachers Association convention will help me network with people in my industry; I will get to attend workshops that I ordinarily could not. This is a 2-day event and I know that the knowledge gained by attending will be invaluable for my continued growth in the computer science industry.
Attending this conference, I will register for 2 half-day workshops that include my learning more usages and furthering my knowledge on the MIT App., which my students won the Congressional App.
Challenge 2018 using that app. The other will be learning about the next level of my current curriculum form the high school perspective.
