My students need the Kidnapped Cookie forensic science kit.
"Who stole the cookie from the cookie jar?" Help my students find out, by using forensic science to find the culprit!
My students often do not aspire to college, and definitely not a career in the science field.
They do not know the power of their own potential. They struggle against poverty, learning English as a second language and often growing up too soon.
Yet, they always come to school, wanting to learn, trying their hardest to make meaning of what we give them.
I am requesting a forensic science kit around the mystery of the kidnapping of Otis Spunkmeyer and his cookies! Students will test for fingerprints on the ransom note, analyze crumb samples and determine who is the culprit! Then a mock trial will ensue-will the defendant be found guilty? Law and Order has nothing on this mystery!
This project is so important to help engage students and have them begin thinking about college and career paths early.
If we don't get students hooked now on the excitement of learning, it is all that more difficult later. Let's not lose a single student!
