My Students

I teach amazing students on a very wide spectrum of abilities in my specialized Language Arts and Reading classes. I have classes with struggling, unmotivated readers and classes with gifted students that blow me away daily with their knowledge, creativity, and quirks. They make each day an adventure.

No matter what their learning abilities are in the classroom, I get to see their ever-changing teen attitudes, ideas, and energy every day.

The pandemic certainly has taken its toll on both ability levels and behaviors. I see many playing catch up with their basic skills. I also see many students fail to engage in learning in the same way they did two years ago. Technology has become such a gift and such a distraction for many of them. They also need to relearn how to successfully communicate and interact.

My Project

When the building I teach in was built over 25 years ago, overhead projectors were cutting-edge technology. As the years have gone by, new technology was slowly added. Teachers got computers and projectors where installed. However, over the past few years, the digital explosion and the pandemic have made teachers and students dependent on technology in the classroom.

Students should be able to see clear images on a bright screen so they can learn and participate.

This project will allow me to replace my outdated, dim, and fuzzy projector, with a bright, clear, state-of-the-art projector that will enhance my students learning in class as well as for those who need to join us virtually.
