As a parent and teacher at a small town feeder school, I would say we are blessed to live in a town with a big heart! I am a self-contained teacher who implements technology on a regular basis. Our local school has more than 500 students from Pre-K through 5th grade; I have taught several grade levels and feel I have finally hit my stride with second grade. Through the past years, my students and I have made an effort to include project based lessons with our resources. They love using technology as much as I love teaching with it!
My Project
Deepak Chopra once stated, "I've always felt that technology can be used to our benefit and should be used to our benefit." As an educator, I truly believe this too, even more so, when it comes to our students!
Believe it when I say, we are "crossing our little fingers" for two iPad mini 4 tablets.
Since I began working at this current school in 2007, I have taken pride in my technology journey.
You can make a difference by bringing two of iPad mini 4 tablets and three cases to my 2nd-grade students. In math, we'd work with money (financial skills) and in Social Studies, I could use them for mini economics lessons, too!
My students work with computers, interactive white boards and in independent centers. While I work with my guided reading/math centers, I have several active centers that reinforce and enhance lessons previously taught. Having two more iPads would help my students tremendously! Suffice it to say, the students love using iPads in our centers and we could use several at this time. With additional iPads, I know my class could reap the benefits of using it daily. My priority would be to assist with independent practice and work up to project based activities. Our school has an awesome iPad Resources website that was set up to help teachers and parents find free and affordable apps, as well as helpful articles. With many of these apps, we could use them to work with lessons.
