My Students

Hi! I am entering my fourth year of teaching! I am loving every minute of learning together with my students. Each year we work hard to create a classroom environment of inclusion and support. This year, one of my goals is to engage the students in cross-curricular instruction. I would like to breach the boundaries between science and math and writing and reading. I want to focus on how these areas of study directly relate to the students and why they are learning them.

Students are best engaged through a variety of authentic literacies.

I strive to have all types of reading materials for my students to access.

One important part of the classroom is the voices that are highlighted. Students should see themselves represented in the literacies throughout our classroom. Students will also see other cultures represented in a way that highlights the differences!

Thank you for supporting our classroom!

My Project

One of the best ways for students to engage in the standards of learning is to access the knowledge in authentic ways. To accomplish this, students can read authentic literacies, like current magazines, to connect concepts with the world around them.

Purchasing this Time for Kids magazines will be a great tool to use throughout the year.

The resource allows students access to articles and images that are current and relatable. The text features are also geared towards fifth-grade readers, which allows the students to easily access the content with little frustration.

Giving each student a copy of the Time for Kids magazine is important so that students can experience their own copy, whether at school or at home. The magazine not only offers an immense selection of cross-curricular reading choices but also opens up many writing options for students throughout the year. Students will be able to read and write about a variety of content.
