In our classroom, we move around while we learn and one place we love to learn is the floor! A rug would be so wonderful for my students to have a comfortable distinct place to sit.
My students are the most wonderful children!
Most of these precious souls live in less than desirable circumstances, but when they come to school they are happy, innocent children. They know our school and the people in our school will keep them safe, fed, and taken care of while they are in our care. Our school is a Title 1 school located in the middle of several Section 8 apartment complexes.
My Project
Students who live in extremely loud, excited atmospheres need movement at school. Sitting still is very difficult for our kids so we integrate lots of movement and learn from many areas, not just our desks and chairs. One place we love to learn is the floor. We read together, complete assignments using clipboards, play learning games, and many other activities on our floor. With a rug, we would have a comfortable, distinct area of a room for these learning opportunities.
When my students are in my classroom I want them to have all the comforts they should have at home.
A nice, comfy, colorful rug would be a great addition to our classroom. We will use our rug every day during floor time! I can just imagine the faces of my sweet students smiling ear to ear the first time we all sit together on our new rug.
