Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Working at a Title 1 campus has many challenges but also many rewards. I have the privilege of teaching kindergartners, many of which have never been to school before, along with many English Language Learners.
The students I serve may not have a lot but that doesn't mean they aren't eager to learn.
For many of my students I am the first experience they will have in a school setting, and I am honored to serve them any way I can.
My Project
Being a kindergartner means you spend a lot of your time in circle time, a time for you to come to the carpet to get together to either hear a story or discuss what you will be learning. My classroom is in desperate need of a new carpet that will allow my students to feel comfortable during this time.
Help my classroom feel warm and inviting with a carpet that will have a place for everyone to sit criss-cross apple sauce and enjoy their learning comfortably!
Not only will it be a place for our morning meetings, read alouds, and whole group teaching, but it will also be a place where students can go to work in groups or with a partner. So next time my class hears come to the carpet, they know they will each have their very own place to sit!
