Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach 160 9th grade students. The majority of my students are low income, as my school is considered Title 1 school. We are deemed Title 1 due to the high percentage of students who are receiving free or reduced lunch. Every single one of my students is considered a minority, most are Hispanic with a few African Americans. Many of my students were born in other countries, and have had to tackle language barriers to make it to where they are today. I teach both Honors and regular 9th grade English, so I teach both the higher and lower performing students.
My Project
This project would provide my students with the essentials to be able to use our classroom Cricut cutting machine. The students will be able to use these tools such as the vinyl, Cricut cutting mats, Cricut pens, and Cricut cutting tools in order to enhance their classroom projects. Students would be able to present their projects in appealing displays.
Students need expressive mediums that will allow them to continue their growth mindsets.
Students learn best in collaborative settings and would be able to create projects in group settings that would allow them to expand their creativity and express it in a fashion that promotes rigorous thinking in collaborative settings.
