My students are creative, energetic and interested in learning new artist technique with different mediums! They absolutely love hands-on, active, engaging projects and challenges that allow them to think outside the box! They come to school each day enthusiastic to try new things and take chances in order to grow both personally and artistically. Truly, they are my reason for teaching and my inspiration!
Many students in my classroom come in saying they don enjoy art, but, they soon have have a change of heart because of the projects that we do in class.
I see great improvement in their skills throughout the year.
Our school is in rural west Tennessee, in a small community. The students exposure to the arts is often limited to our weekly art classes.
Each child in my classroom loves learning, although the method and environment in which they learn best vary greatly. We incorporate a variety of learning strategies, and learning options to ensure that each student's needs are met, right where they are! They are truly an incredible group, and I am so lucky and thankful to have a new group of learners that are excited
My Project
The Cricut will allow students to increase the creativity of their learning and make the choices that express their individuality. During independent work times they will be able to use the Cricut to create independent projects that interest them. They will also be able to use the Cricut to enhance their school projects. The teachers in our school will also benefit for using the Cricut to enhance the atmosphere of their classrooms or to use it to make instructional materials. Making sure students are excited and engaged is an essential component in motivating them. I have noticed amazing differences in my students when they are given a choice in their options for creating projects.. They almost always make good choices about what they want to create. They are more engaged, and get more work completed than when they are just told what we are going to do that day.
My students are noticeably more engaged in their work and less disruptive of their peers when they are given a choice of what to work on when they are given a broad choice of materials to work with in class.
The products that I have selected will help my students by giving them choices of mediums to make more creative learning choices. The Cricut will allow students to explore with many mediums and express themselves in ways they haven't been able to do so before.
I have seen how choice can positively affect my students work and demeanor and hope that the additional options given to them through the providing the Cricut will open up many avenues of creativity and expression.
