Help me give my students a Cricut machine to design AMAZING Science project boards, to flex their creative muscles, and expand their knowledge with the use of art.
I have been so fortunate to teach curious, passionate children for 17 years as a science cluster teacher for grades K-5. When I was hired, I was shown a stairwell where my "teaching materials" were kept and was told I would travel from room to room every period on three different floors (with no elevator)! I taught over 500 students every week for ten years and with perseverance, lots of organization and a bit of creativity. I tried my best to deliver science curriculum and content. Now we have been blessed with a new building that houses our pre-K-8th grade students and I have a beautiful science lab where I hope to not only deliver content but experiences as well!
It truly touches me to be a role model and inspiration for these children year after year, watching them grow and become young adults.
Even when they move onto our middle school, they come back to visit me, help out in my class, take in the new thematic decor, or feed our pets. The best is when they just want to be a part of my lessons and activities and see what's happening in the room!
My Project
Cricut machines and accessories are a small but significant portion of a student's learning experience. Materials to make proper project boards are few and hard to come by in a school with limited resources. To be able to match my students' enthusiasm for learning, the materials are necessary to make their dreams into reality. My students will use the Cricut machine to create a dynamic display board unhindered by the lack of artistic ability.
I have seen my students surpass obstacles to achieve success on creative projects and motivate them to put forth greater effort in their school work.
They'll be able to create 3-D versions of different biomes, they'll be able to make eco-friendly terrariums for our classroom pet, they'll make examples of solids, liquids, and gases come alive, they can create different items. With the Cricut machine and my students' creativity, anything is possible!
