My Students

Our students attend this Title I school in grades PK through 5. We have general education, bilingual, and dual-language (English/Spanish) classes available to them. The majority of our students (98%) come from economically disadvantaged families; as such, they may not have the opportunities to get their hands on various books, materials, and projects in order to spur their imaginations. Our budget at school and in our district is limited.

Our students come from low-income families, where they may experience violence, poverty, and other challenges in their neighborhood.

My students are unique in their strengths and challenges and it's up to the teacher to foster individualized learning to the students.

My Project

I would like to expand on my library maker space so my students are empowered to take on the role of a maker where they build, create, design, and produce. My students, as well as other students, will benefit greatly from the visuals created by the Cricut machine. Students will use the Cricut Explore Air 2 to design and cut projects with the Cricut design program online. Students can create 3D models, art projects, and prototypes for classroom projects that would be difficult to create without the amazing Cricut machine.

The Cricut Explore Air 2 can also be used to create individualized flashcards, writing prompts, bulletin boards, and projects.

I know this will help to engage students in learning and also help with their creativity. More engagement means more learning is happening and that is every teacher's dream!
