I have a fun job where I get to split my time at school. I not only teach fun energetic gifted students, but I am also a speech and language implementer. I love with my gifted students and my special education students. It makes me appreciate every child for who they are because they are all special and have amazing talents and stories.
Our school is in a small town where it is hard to provide opportunities for low-income students.
Like many schools, we are on a tight budget, so many of my supplies come from my own pocket or donations from parents. Many parents can not donate, and I find myself spending more and more on my room trying to give my students more opportunities.
My students are amazing kids who deserve to have every resource possible.
My Project
My students are wonderful kids who deserve every opportunity to learn and grow. My students are hardworking and love learning new and exciting things.
I would love to give my students the chance to create art using new, fun technology with a Cricut Explore 2 and press.
My mom can draw and paint anything; however, the art gene skipped me. I always draw the stick person, which my students inform me is the "BEST"! Bless those young kids for their encouragement. I'm okay with admitting my stick person could use a little help. In my eyes, Art is something I'm not good at. Many students feel the same way, but they haven't had the exposure to the art you can make that doesn't include natural talent. These students are so creative and I want to teach them that creativity can be used in so many ways, including art, with a little help from technology.
This project will not only help my students with art, but they will be working with math and science as well. They will be measuring their projects and learning how heat and transferring works. This project has unlimited learning opportunities for my students. Who knows, maybe one of my students will be able to start their own business with what they learn in my classroom.
