The students in our classroom engage in new learning opportunities with enthusiasm and gusto. Opportunities that allow them to see the world beyond the city are few and far between.
More than 80% of our student population has difficulty securing basic living needs including food and housing.
For many students, school is the highlight of their day, knowing that is where breakfast and lunch are provided. The majority are English Language Learners, whose parents are first-generation immigrants.
Our classroom is an exciting learning environment where we come together from diverse backgrounds to collaborate with each other as we engage in hands-on active inquiry and digital learning experiences.
Our classroom has become an integral part of their success in helping them feel secure, included and encouraged. The sense of community that we have built allows each child the opportunity to explore their beliefs and ideas in a safe environment.
Thank you for taking the time to consider our classroom project!
My Project
Prior to the winter vacation, the first part of our project was funded... a brand-new Cricut machine for our classroom! Now, we are looking to add the rest of our materials that we need in order to continue our creative process! Students will learn how to use design software on the computer to create paper & vinyl designs on the Cricut. The materials that are being requested for the second part of our project will allow them to see their designs come to life in the product portion. The learning objective or goal is that as a class, we will be able to create custom t-shirts for our Field Day at the end of the school year using the heat press and vinyl transfer sheets! These kids have been working really hard and these types of projects really motivate them to keep up the great work that they have been doing all year!
